What Is ChatGPT Instant Checkout?
OpenAI has introduced the “Buy it in ChatGPT” option for users to make a purchase if a user likes any of the suggestions. The Instant Checkout helps you buy your preferred items directly from Etsy merchants, right in ChatGPT.
If you find the “Buy” button on the product detail page or sidebar after clicking on the shopping search result. This button means you will be able to purchase directly in ChatGPT via a secure checkout process without having to visit any other website.
How Does ChatGPT Instant Checkout Work?
When you choose a product to Buy, you will find a checkout window which contains all the order details and you can complete the checkout process with your preferred payment methods. The payment methods include Card, Apple Pay, Link, and Google Pay.
When an order is placed or completed, you will receive an email from the Etsy seller along with a checkmark in chat displaying the order confirmation. You can also find your past orders if you go through the Settings and select Orders.
Can I Shop Directly Through ChatGPT Now?
Yes, ChatGPT users can now directly buy products from the sellers at Etsy while interacting with the chatbot, but OpenAI said that one million Shopify merchants, including big names such as Glossier and Skims are coming soon on the platform. The process is going to be very simple. A ChatGPT user can ask for product recommendations in the chat, and the chatbot can bring up a few products based on the requirements. This can help users get the exact product they are looking for without scrolling through an entire page of listings on Etsy.
This news has been taken with open arms as the shares of Etsy closed up nearly 16% on Monday and Shopify’s stocks closed up more than 6%.
Is ChatGPT Instant Checkout available worldwide?
The option of online purchase via ChatGPT is currently available in the United States only. The ChatGPT Instant Checkout option is in its initial stages right now and it has not yet been rolled out in Dubai yet. However, OpenAI says that it intends to expand the feature globally in the future.
If the initial launch in the United States is successfully implemented and scaled, only then will there be a possibility of rolling out the shopping cart feature in the UAE and across the world.

The information obtained until now suggests that OpenAI will not store your payment information on ChatGPT Instant Checkout. If you save your payment information for future use, your payment details will remain stored securely with the payment partner, that is Stripe, and not OpenAI.
The payment process uses an open standard called the Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP), which has been co-developed by Stripe. The process creates one-time, encrypted payment tokens to securely authorize each transaction sharing minimal data. The option to save payment information for future one-click payments is available to paying subscribers of ChatGPT Plus and Pro.
