Sora 2 Model

OpenAI, after coming head-to-head with the undisputed king of search engines, Google, is now coming after TikTok, Meta, and YouTube. It has launched a new social media app, Sora 2, allowing users to create high-definition video clips with audio from text prompts.

The concept is fresh, as it enables users to upload short videos of themselves which allows them to insert them into the Sora-generated worlds. Users can write a prompt and generate a 10-second video — allowing you to add “cameos” of your friends into these clips (with their consent, of course).

So, what to expect from the newly launched Sora app? Can it replace the “conventional” social media marketing and content creation? Let’s find out a suitable opinion on the upcoming overhaul of social media platforms.

What Is The OpenAI Sora App?

In a nutshell, OpenAI has created its most advanced video generation model, alongside a new iOS app which is designed to bring AI-powered video creation to every household. The Sora 2.0 model builds on an earlier version that was launched earlier this year.

According to Open AI, the new release is a major leap forward in audio-video synchronization, physical realism and multi-shot story telling. Sora AI app is currently an invite-only app and will allow users to create texts and images with built-in controls for likeness, safety, and provenance.

While the app’s access is only available to a handful of users, OpenAI has already shared some impressive examples of how the app works. Particularly, Sora 1 app is better at following the laws of physics which makes the video more realistic and mesmerizing.

How Does Sora AI Video App Work?

OpenAI in one of their blog posts stated that the previous video models morphed objects and deformed reality to put a text prompt into execution. But, this Sora app will allow users to upload themselves into any scene generated by the Sora app.

Now this can add to a lot to the already insurmountable concerns of ethical usage of deepfake video generation, and to mitigate this risk — OpenAI will require users to upload a one-time video-and-audio recording to capture their appearance and verify their identity.

How does Sora compare to TikTok?

Once the user has successfully generated the video, they can share it on their Sora feeds, which seems similar to TikTok, Instagram Reels, or other short-form reel platforms. OpenAI will consider the user’s activity, attain the user’s location via their IP address, and their past post engagements, along with their ChatGPT conversation history to curate the algorithmic recommendations.

Sora app allows parental controls via ChatGPT, allowing parents to turn off algorithmic personalization, override infinite scroll limits, and even manage their children’s direct messages. However, parents must have a good technical understanding to get access to these features.

Can creators monetize their content on Sora?

There is indeed an option to monetize your content that you have generated on OpenAI’s Sora. While there is no built-in monetization available currently, creators can rely on external platforms to monetize their content.

OpenAI’s terms state that the user owns the output Sora has created and possesses full commercial rights over the content. It suggests that users can sell, license, or merchandise their content produced on the platform.

How Can Creators Monetize Content Made On Sora?

There are a few ways creators can use for monetization of their content:

  • Selling Stock Pictures: Creators can generate and sell unique AI-generated shorts on different marketplaces to provide high-quality footage for other creators
  • Creating YouTube Videos: Sora app can be used to create videos which a content creator can use for the platforms such as YouTube, Meta, or TikTok as they can be monetized through ad revenue, sponsorships, and viewer donations.
  • Providing Personalized Video Creation: Creators can offer services to craft personalized videos for clients, such as custom ads and special greetings and  work with companies to create brand-specific footage.

Is The Sora App Available For Download Worldwide?

OpenAI’s Sora App is not currently available all across the globe. It is a limited, invite-only app only for iOS users in the United States and Canada. OpenAI has shared its intent to expand the availability of the app in other countries if the initial launch goes through successfully.
